Worcester Warriors Appoint Tom Cruse as Assistant Coach
Thursday 22 May 2025
Worcester Warriors are thrilled to announce the appointment of Tom Cruse as Assistant Coach, further strengthening the coaching team under newly appointed Head Coach Matt Everard. Cruse joins Warriors in this pivotal phase of building a new team and will play a key role in supporting Everard’s vision for the squad as they prepare for a new chapter in the recently rebranded second tier of English rugby, The Champ.
Cruse brings a wealth of experience to Worcester, having enjoyed a distinguished playing career that included stints with London Irish, Wasps, Sale Sharks, Edinburgh Rugby, Rotherham Titans and Northampton Saints. The dynamic hooker and ambassador for rugby mental health charity LooseHeadz, called time on his playing career in 2024 after a season with Northampton Saints before transitioning into coaching full time, taking on the role of Forwards Coach at Bedford Blues, after prior coaching experience with Chinnor and Saints. His expertise in forward play and his tactical acumen will be invaluable assets to the Warriors coaching staff.
‘’I am delighted to be joining Worcester Warriors at such an exciting time for the club. It’s a club with an incredible appetite and a proud fanbase. I know first hand what a fantastic person and coach Matt is. I look forward to joining the coaching team and seeing what we can build together.’’ said Tom Cruse
Warriors’ Head Coach Matt Everard expressed his excitement about working with Cruse, emphasising the alignment of their coaching philosophies and shared commitment to building a resilient, competitive team capable of making a significant impact in the upcoming season.
‘’Tom Cruse epitomises the kind of people we are building the Club on. When it comes to coaching, he is invested in firstly the person, and then the player, resulting in him maximising the players potential both on and off the field. He has already made a brilliant start in his coaching career, with a big impact in his final season at Northampton Saints and playing a big part of Bedford Blues stand-out set piece performances this season.
He is someone who I can wholeheartedly say, I am looking forward to spending time with at Worcester Warriors every day.’’ said Matt Everard
Further announcements regarding the coaching team and squad development will follow in the coming weeks as part of Worcester Warriors current ‘Guess The Warrior’ campaign with daily clues seeing fans guess the latest player announcement.
In the meantime, Worcester Warriors continue their preparations for the upcoming 2025/26 season with a supporter event scheduled on 22nd May 2025 at Sixways Stadium. The event became fully booked in 24hrs of release, with 500 fans due to meet and ask questions to CEO Stephen Vaughan and Head Coach Matt Everard.
