Chris Pennell
Pennell is one of the star performers at Sixways and the Warriors centurion enjoyed some of his best performances for the club last season.
Supremely talented and versatile back Pennell, another product of the successful Warriors Academy, first burst into the senior team during the 2007/08 season when he made his Premiership debut against Bath Rugby.
Pennell, comfortable playing at full back, wing and centre, made 20 competitive first-team starts during his first senior season for Warriors, including 12 in the top-flight.
Worcester born-and-bred, Pennell represented England at Under-19 level and became a key performer for the club during the 2008/09 campaign until he suffered a serious knee injury in Europe.
The dynamic back returned to full fitness and grabbed tries against Connacht Rugby and Olympus Rugby XV Madrid in Europe during the 2009/10 season. He went onto to make 16 appearances during the campaign and score five tries.
Pennell’s commitment and determination to battle back from adversity have earned praise in recent seasons.
The home-grown ace was named captain in July 2010, only to suffer heartache when an ankle injury ruled him out of the first-half of the RFU Championship season. However, Pennell again came back fighting and played a key role from full back as promotion was secured back to the top-flight.
His impressive form was rewarded with a new contract in January 2013.
Pennell made his one hundreth appearance for Warriors against Harlequins in April 2013 and marked the ocassion with a try, an assist and arguably his best performance in a Warriors shirt.
