But there was no let-up from the hosts as they ran in 11-tries to claim another bonus point win and end the European season on a high.
Early tries from Josh Drauniniu and Errie Claassens saw Warriors take control before battling Gernika hit back with Santiago Salas diving over and fly half Declan Cusack assured off the kicking tee.
Normal service was resumed in the latter parts of the first half as Nikki Walker and then Jake Abbott wrapped up the bonus point by the half hour before Claassens and Gray helped the home side open up a 38-16 half-time lead.
Gernika continued to fight hatd in the second half but further tries from Blair Cowan, Walker, Aleki Lutui, Ben Howard and Josh Drauniniu wrapped up a convincing victory in plunging temperatures.
Warriors went straight on the attack from the first whistle and looked wide through Walker and Drauniniu while Cowan and Dean Schofield carried prominently down the middle.
Jon Clarke stepped inside a man to drive Worcester forward before Sam Betty showed his footwork to kick in behind and Drauniniu pounced as Gernika failed to collect the loose ball.
Drauniniu then turned provider as he scorched down the left and cut inside his opposite number before flicking in field to Claassens who juggled the loose ball before dotting down.
Gernika hit back almost immediately as a chip in behind from Declan Cusack sat up kindly for Santiago Salas who danced past the static final man to reduce the lead to 12-7 after an entertaining opening 11 minutes.
Cusack ate further into the lead with a penalty as the Spanish regrouped well after the double early try burst from Warriors.
The home side looked to respond once more with Danny Gray kicking deep after Gernika infringed on the floor. The resulting maul was dragged down and with a free ball the Warriors went in field and found Walker who cut a superb line to fire over.
Cusack again confidently slotted a penalty after Warriors gave a needless penalty away at the breakdown.
Worcester turned to brute power in the forwards to drive Gernika back time and time again from five metres out. Referee Cedric Marchat lost his patience after a series of penalties and sin binned Michael Dias before Abbott was driven over for the bonus point.
Walker burst down the right to a big ovation as Warriors looked to open up and play and when Gray opened up Gernika it was Claassens on the overlap who had too much power and pace and surged over.
The power of Walker was proving difficult for Gernika to handle as he burst past more tackles before Gray saw his chip ahead charged down.
However, the fly half was not to be denied on the stroke of half-time as he stepped inside and dived over from close range as Warriors opened up a 38-16 lead.
Worcester looked to drive home the advantage in the opening minutes of the second half as Gray sent Ollie Hayes into clear space and Clarke and Abbott fired past first up tackles.
Number Eight Cowan blasted over from the back of a driving line out while Gernika added more points courtesy of the boot of Cusack after the intial break from Carlos Garcia Parrado.
Replacement Lutui nearly sent Drauniniu away on his shoulder before Walker grabbed his second of the afternoon as he thumped past men out wide to slide over for the half century.
Clarke and Drauniniu combine with some slick hands down the middle before Lutui ploughed over from a few yards out against tired Spanish tacklers.
Hill started to use his bench with five changes for the final 20 minutes and replacement Howard lit up the late gloom as he finished off a length of the field move with some electric feet.
Max Stelling just failed to take a difficult pass as Clarke cut through men with ease before Drauniniu put the icing on the cake as he skipped home in injury time.
