Rising star Tom Wood was thrust into the first team limelight after impressing in pre-season before the 2007/08 season - the dynamic back row has not taken a single step back ever since.
Born and bred in Coventry, back row Wood first picked up a rugby ball at school before a spell with local side Barkers Butts.
The flanker’s eye-catching displays meant he was soon snapped up by the Worcester Academy only for his progress to stall when he broke his leg two seasons ago.
However, a spell in New Zealand, playing for North Otago, helped him find renewed confidence and Wood returned eager to impress.
Wood has enjoyed a stunning full debut season in 2007/08 after breaking into the first team squad as he made 20 first team appearances.
The dynamic back rower played in 19 games during the 2008/09 season - despite having time out with a shoulder injury - and cemented his place in the team during 2009/10 with 25 appearances.
Wood’s outstanding form was recognised in February 2010 when he made his debut for England Saxons against Ireland A. The back row earned a call-up in May 2010 to the England Saxons squad for the Churchill Cup that summer in the United States.
Warriors announced in January 2010 that Wood would move to Midlands neighbours Northampton Saints at the end of the 2009/10 season having made 63 appearances for the club and scoring five tries.
