England Sevens star Jake Abbott is a flanker of huge promise who made his mark and continued to come of age during the 2009/10 season at Sixways.

Worcester born and bred, Abbott has been connected to the club since the age of six as a mini/junior.

Abbott – who has previously had a loan spell at Stourbridge - made his first senior start against London Irish in the EDF Energy Cup in October 2008.

A product of the Academy system at Warriors, Abbott scored a first try for the club against Harlequins in the same competition in November 2008.

The dynamic former Worcester Sixth Form College student made seven appearances for Warriors during 2009/10 and scored three tries, including a memorable double against Olympus Rugby Madrid XV in January 2010.

The athletic back row is also a key member of the England Sevens set-up and during the last two years has performed around the globe including Hong Kong, Brisbane, Adelaide, Wellington, Las Vegas and Dubai.

Abbott signed a new one-year deal in June of 2010 to recommit to his hometown club during the Championship bid.
