Front row legend Chris Fortey has become a cult hero for Worcester fans ever since making the switch from home city club Gloucester to Sixways Stadium.

Fortey joined up with Warriors in the summer of 2004 and made his debut for the club in the first match of the 2005/2006 season, ironically against Gloucester.

Hooker Fortey linked up with his twin Lee, who was already a key member of the Warriors squad, and made league history against Newcastle in April 2006, becoming the first twins to run out together for the same side in the Guinness Premiership.

Fortey clocked up a century of games for Worcester during the 2009/10 season and joined the 200 Club in the Premiership when he came off the bench against Saracens in November 2009 – becoming the fourth player to achieve the milestone in top-flight history.

The ultra consistent front rower was rewarded for his form in March 2010 when he signed a new one-year contract to remain at Sixways until at least 2011.

“I still have plenty of rugby left in me and feel very fresh,” said Fortey. “I’m competing and want to play every week.

“I want to bring success to this team as a player and I also enjoy working with the younger boys and passing on tips and my experience.”
