Pat Sanderson joined Worcester Warriors for the 2004/05 season from Harlequins and has been instrumental in ensuring the club has developed ever since.

The back row star - who was captain between 2004 and 2010 - started every top-flight game in his first year with the club and was later nominated for the Zurich Player of the Season and the PRA Players’ Player of the Year.

An intelligent, skilful and hard-working player, Sanderson has continued to lead from the front at Sixways both on and off the field and during the 2009/10 season joined an exclusive club as he celebrated his 200th top-flight appearance.

Sanderson’s outstanding contribution during his time at Sixways has been rewarded with England caps, captaining the side during the 2006 Australia tour and in charge of the triumphant England Churchill Cup squad in Canada in 2005.

The Sixways ace is also a high-calibre sevens player, having made his debut back in 1997 in Hong Kong. In 2003-04 he played in six of the IRB World Series rounds including the three wins in South Africa, Hong Kong and London. He also helped England win the prestigious Hong Kong event.

In 2002, Sanderson was also a member of England’s Commonwealth Games squad in Manchester.

Sanderson has agreed a new two-year contract extension, which will see him remain at Sixways until 2012, in August 2009.

"I am delighted to have committed my future to the Warriors,” said Sanderson. “It has been an incredible journey so far yet there’s so much still to achieve here and as I look ahead it’s hard not to feel excited about the future of the club.

“We have an incredible team spirit here, both on and off the field, a committed chairman, a superb fan base and an amazing stadium. There is nowhere I would rather be playing rugby."
