Established in 1988, Acorns Children's Hospice offers a network of care for life limited and life threatened children and young people, and their families, across the heart of England. These children and young people are not expected to reach adulthood and require specialist care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Acorns for the Three Counties opened in Worcester in March 2005
The Warriors Community Foundation is the charitable arm of the club was established to help build a legacy for sport, education, health and social cohesion within our community. The Foundation will utilise the Warriors brand, professional players and highly skilled staff to engage, educate, motivate, challenge and inspire young people through the power of sport to live an active, healthy and rewarding lifestyle.
Did you know - It costs £6,000 to keep Acorns Children's Hospice open for one day and it costs £4,000 to put 12 disengaged children through a 10-week 'Walk like a Warrior' programme run by Warriors Community Foundation.
We are asking fans to dig deep this Christmas with our 'text to donate' campaign and support both Acorns and the Warriors Community Foundation. All you need to do to pick up your mobile phone and donate £2 to these fantastic causes by texting:
'WRFC12 £2' to 70070
The players also showed their support by playing in a charity shirt designed by local schoolgirl Alice Scarrott. Alice, who attends Warndon Primary School, was one of our top three designers who were picked out from hundreds of entries in our annual competition to design the playing jersey. Alice's entry - that features shooting stars - was then selected by the judging panel and created by our official kit provider Cotton Traders!
A limited number of 100 shirts were made available to order on a first come, first served basis from the Sixways Store. And after today's match, the shirts will be signed by the players and auctioned to raise funds for Acorns Children's Hospice and the Warriors Community Foundation. Keep checking back at www.warriors.co.uk for more information.
Remember - 100% goes to charity - split equally between the Warriors Community Foundation and Acorns.
Thank you for your support!
