And now that a planning obligation deed under Section 106 of the Town and Country Planning Act has been agreed and signed off, it signals another major step forward in the multi-million pound development and the green light to commence work.
Planning permission includes the following aspects:
• A car park for over 1,000 spaces
• A substantial new roundabout, development and improvements to Pershore Lane.
• A second internal roundabout constructed on site to allow improved access to the rugby club, the park and ride and Esporta.
• A new underpass under Pershore Lane and Smite Lane allowing access to new land that has been purchased as a result of this planning application.
Charlie Little, Warriors General Manager, said: "This is a very important and exciting step forward in the development of Sixways. We can now progress to the next stage which is a formal presentation to WRFC (the amateur club) at an EGM in the near future.
"Having been in discussion with the development committee from the amateur club for some time we all wish to further enhance the unique situation whereby the thriving amateur section sits alongside the Warriors professional set-up.
"It is important that this development enhances the entire Sixways complex and meets the needs of all the stakeholders involved.
"This can really start happening in a more tangible way now that this planning has been issued. We are all working extremely hard behind the scenes and we now have to wait until we hear from Advantage West Midlands (AWM) with regards to the County Council's application for additional funding. If everything is OK and approved then we anticipate starting the infrastructure work as soon as next month."
