In high winds - and with Dale Rasmussen holding the ball - Carlile struck his kick sweetly through the middle to a huge ovation from the Sixways faithful and seal a place in the RFU Championship final later this month.
He said: "As soon as the try was scored I immediately thought 'right, now it's my turn, I have to put this over or we are in some trouble'. Luckily it was not too far from the posts and I managed to sneak it over.
"You try and shut out the emotions and noise inside the stadium, but you could still hear everyone telling each other to be quiet.
"It was one of those kicks that I was very pleased to see go over, I just focussed everything I had on that kick and luckily I got it over.
"After the kick it was crucial we switched on, there was still one and a half minutes left on the clock.
"We wanted to keep ball and wind down the clock. Unfortunately, a bit like we did all game, we coughed up ball and it gave them a chance to sneak it at the end. Thankfully we edged it.
"There have not been many games like that in my career and it was certainly one of the more frustrating to play in because of the manner of our performance.
"It's nice to win but in terms of going into the final we need to tighten up and really keep the ball to play in the right areas of the field."
