The Ever Hopefuls, from The Heart of England Foundation Trust, and the Ditch Devils, from Alexandra Hospital (A&E), claimed the titles in the inaugural NHS Touch Rugby competition at Sixways on Sunday, May 15.

A total of nine teams, divided into two groups, were competing in two separate competitions for a final prize of a Cup and Plate.

The Physio Terrorists won Group One after winning all four of their matches, narrowly squeezing past BCH Belles and Boys in the first cup semi-final before meeting Ever Hopefuls in the final game.

Ever Hopefuls had reached this stage of play by storming through their group games without conceding a single point throughout, and then overcoming Burgundy Button Pushers in the semi-final match. Despite the best efforts of the Physios, Ever Hopefuls proved too powerful to lift the Cup.

The Plate competition was extremely hotly contested with Ditch Devils securing a narrow 1-0 win over Dudley Dynamo's in the final. Earlier, they had encountered with Norfolk and Chance and The Vasopressors in their respective semi-finals.

Teams included: Alexandra Hospital A&E - 'Ditch Devils'; Occupational Health - 'Mauve Movers'; Worcester A&E - 'Norfolk and Chance'; Physiotherapy - 'The Terrorists'; Radiology - 'Burgundy Button Pushers'; Anaesthetics - 'The Vasopressors'; Birmingham Children's Hospital - 'BCH Belles and Boys'; Dudley PCT - 'Dudley Dynamo's'; Heart of England Foundation Trust - 'Ever Hopefuls'.

Premiership Rugby today announced an extension of their partnership with the UK's largest insurance company, Aviva, for a further three years. The contract extension, which starts in the 2014-15 season, will cover a golden era for club rugby in England and will include a period when the country will host a Rugby World Cup and when rugby union will finally rejoin the Olympic movement.
