Worcester Warriors have agreed to loan out front row Shaun Ruwers to National Division One side London Welsh.
Prop Ruwers signed for Warriors from Waterloo in the summer of 2007 and made his first Guinness Premiership appearance for the club against Newcastle Falcons during the 07/08 season.
The South African-born tighthead, who has enjoyed previous spells with Natal Sharks and Atlantic Pumas, finished his first season with 10 appearances from the bench and was rewarded with a new two-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2010.
This campaign Ruwers has come off the bench on three occasions and Director of Rugby Mike Ruddock now believes a loan spell with London Welsh will further aid his development at Sixways Stadium.
"We believe a loan period can be very rewarding to a player and given the lack of A team rugby in the coming month we feel Shaun would benefit from some game time and rugby at Old Deer Park," he said.
Warriors will have the option to recall Ruwers at any time during the loan period.
Worcester Warriors' long-term vision to become an established Aviva Premiership Club has been given a significant boost after concluding an agreement with Worcester Rugby, the group that runs amateur club Worcester Wanderers Rugby Club, over the usage of the whole of the Sixways Stadium site.
