Born and bred in Coventry, Wood first picked up a rugby ball at school before a spell with local side Barkers Butts. The 21-year-old's eye-catching displays meant he was soon snapped up by the Worcester Academy only for his progress to stall when he broke his leg two seasons ago. However, a spell in New Zealand, playing for North Otago, helped him find renewed confidence and Wood has returned to Sixways this season eager to impress.
Director of Rugby, Mike Ruddock, said: "We are delighted to announce that Tom Wood has agreed to sign a two-year extension at the club.
"Tom has made 17 appearances for Warriors this season and is another fantastic product of our thriving Academy programme.
"He has made rapid strides and has the physical size to make an international back row forward. He also has the determination to carry him to that goal.
"With Drew Hickey leaving the club at the end of the season more weight will fall on Tom's broad shoulders, however, we believe this will bring the very best out of him."
Wood added: "I'm delighted to agree a new extension at Warriors, I have thoroughly enjoyed this season and being such a big part of the first team squad.
"I know there is more I can add to my game but I feel with the coaching team at Warriors I can continue to develop and improve even more next season as I look to have an even greater impact."
