The Coral.co.uk Roadshow paid a Christmas visit to Worcester's Sixways Stadium where a last-gasp Ed Barnes penalty saw Bristol take a share of the spoils as the match finished 20 points apiece. The fourth visit by the Coral.co.uk Roadshow to a Premiership club saw many fans come down to the ground early to see what it was all about.
Coral.co.uk, the official betting and gaming partner of the Guinness premiership, were offering fans the chance to have number patches pressed on to their shirts for FREE and the added option of printing a name of their choice for just £5, with all proceeds being generously donated to the Sue Ryder Care charity. With Christmas approaching, Worcester and Bristol fans alike came to have shirts pressed for friends and loved ones, raising £225 for the charity.
Having correctly answered on the Worcester website that New Zealand was the country Rico Gear represented 19 times, David Avery was the lucky winner chosen to kick for cash on the pitch at half time. Before making his way onto the pitch, the Worcester fan generously committed any winnings to rugby's Wooden Spoon charity and with a possible £675 to be won, David used all three £25 stakes from the 8/1 spot. Despite hitting the post with one effort and being tantalisingly close with another, he couldn't quite find his range and ended up with a highly unjust 0 from 3! However, with Christmas around the corner Coral stepped in and donated £200 to the Wooden Spoon on David's behalf.
Commenting on the day, David said: "It was such a thrill to kick on the Sixways pitch in front of all the Worcester fans. Although my footwear was far from ideal, I at least thought I'd get one over but when the ball hit the post I guess I knew it wasn't going to be my day! I was really gutted not to win any money for the Wooden Spoon but Coral have been fantastic in agreeing to make a donation on my behalf."
With the Roadshow running until April 2009, there are still many more opportunities for fans of the Premiership clubs to join the action, on and off the pitch.
