Cecil Duckworth OBE, Chairman of Worcester Warriors

Pat Sanderson, Warriors first team player and former England captain
Sheena Jones - Worcester Warriors Community Foundation Secretary
Cecil Duckworth set out a vision to create a rugby city in Worcester and the recent hosting of national cup finals, such as the LV= Cup, and international and Premiership rugby fixtures he has achieved that aim.
At Warriors we fully appreciate how important the community is to our future development and the launch of the Worcester Warriors Community Foundation will now help us grow our work in the region. Through the Foundation we are developing further links with the local community including schools, colleges, universities, local clubs, businesses and the general public.
The objectives of the Worcester Warriors Community Foundation include:
• To promote community participation in healthy recreation by providing facilities for the playing of rugby union and other sports capable of improving health.
• To advance the education of children and young people through such means as the trustees think fit in accordance with the laws of charity.
• To provide and assist in providing facilities for sport, recreation or other leisure time occupation of such persons who have need for such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, poverty of racial and economic circumstances or for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving their conditions of life.
Chairman Carol Hart said: "The new foundation will continue to grow our community operations and help us seek more investment into them to further develop our impact in the West Midlands and support the improvement in the lives of young people in our area.
"All the players and staff at Warriors are very excited and fully supportive of the Community Foundation and we plan to use this to reach as many people as possible from all backgrounds. It is important that we show how professional sport can have a positive and long-lasting impact in dealing with social issues and that our business community takes a positive interest in what we are doing and get involved.
"The iconic nature of the facilities, brand and players at Sixways will help the Community Foundation deliver sports themed activities and initiatives. Crucial funds raised from the private and public sector will help us deliver even programmes into the community we reside in and make a real difference."
