But Ruddock's men failed to secure victory and the Director of Rugby has now hinted he will make changes in a bid to find a cutting edge.
"I have got to look at some changes because what the statistics tell me is from a structural point of view things were good, but from a personal point of view perhaps we didn't have the ammunition to break them down," he said.
"I will look at a few different starters this week and also someone like Netani Talei coming off the bench to give us more impact and more carrying power.
"We were all over Sale in terms of possession, territory and carries and I think we had to make 85 tackles while they had to make 142. We had the better of the game, but they made their tackles and kept us out.
"I couldn't fault the effort and commitment, the statistics will tell you that, but our precision and ability to cut the line was not as effective as them."
"We have beaten London Irish in the LV= Cup and drawn away in the league, a lot of people felt we should have got a result that day," he added.
"We have had two really good performances against them and it is up to us to make sure we get that level of performance again."
