The Warrior Way

HEALTHY LIFESTYLES

A five-week unit of work covering the topics of exercise, diet and how the body works. The project also covers what could be harmful to your body by raising awareness of the effects of alcohol, cigarettes and drugs. The project is based in school and contains a 45-minute classroom session followed by practical rugby sessions.

LEARNING WITH THE WARRIORS

A five-week cross curricular pack that uses the Warriors and rugby in general as a tool for learning. The children will complete rugby based Literacy, Maths, Geography, Citizenship and Design & Technology activities. These sessions can also be followed by a practical rugby session.

Other Education Projects

INSPIRE THE WARRIORS

As part of the Family Learning month,Worcester Warriors ran a poetry competition for children in Key Stage 2. The challenge was to write a poem that the team captain could read out to inspire the team. The winning was published in the matchday programme and the poet received four match tickets for the EDF Cup game against Harlequins on November 1.

CLASS READING CHALLENGE

Warriors will be running a series of reading challenges, aimed at motivating young people to read. Classes will compete against each other to see who can read the most (level appropriate) books. Children will fill in a Warriors wall chart. Schools will be able to submit their winning class for a chance to win a trip around Sixways.

WARRIORS READING CHAMPIONS

This project is being developed with the Worcestershire Literacy Team, and is aimed at making a permanent change in young peoples attitudes towards reading, by using Warriors as positive role models.

SPORTS WRITING PROJECT

A six-week unit of work aimed at small groups of KS2 children. Based in the Warriors Study Centre, children will learn about the role of sports journalists, and the literacy skills that they use. Children will learn about how to set up a newspaper report, get the opportunity to write their own match report on a Warriors game and then create a radio summary podcast.

WARRIORS STUDY CENTRE

The education team are happy to deliver courses specifically for a school. If you have an area of study that you feel could benefit from using Worcester Warriors then feel free to get in touch. We are happy to work with you and develop curriculums for use in school, or at Warriors Study Centre.
